Water absorption, thickness swelling and mechanical properties of cement bonded wood composite treated with water repellent

In this study, the purpose was to improve outdoor performance of cement bonded wood composite due their biodegradation and sensitivity moisture especially in warm humid climates. Cement composites were treated with different concentrations (10 %, 25 50 75 % 100 %) water repellent. Water repellent used an organo-silicon based, nano-sized, eco-friendly, water-based agents. Dipping pressure systems applied for treatment. absorption, thickness swelling, accelerated weathering, color changes mechanical properties after weathering determined untreated cement-bonded composites. Results showed that treatment provided a transparent layer on surface. Thus, lower absorption swelling results beginning immersion water. Treated exposed test 350 h. Their strength including modulus rupture, elasticity internal bonding decreased h weathering. However, overall all panels’ minimum requirements EN standards.
